Holiday Wreath

Who's excited for the holidays?! I know I am!

I wont lie, I listen to Christmas music year round. It drives my husband NUTS but I just love it. I grew up listening to Christmas music year round (thanks Dad!) We take Christmas seriously in my family, my grandfather is probably already putting up his Christmas Tree (yes in O C O B E R!) with its 10,000+ color changing lights, and I know my Dad was busy last weekend hanging his Christmas lights on the house before it gets to cold. So to say I was raised with a little Christmas spirt would be an understatement.

So with that it's no surprise that I have already started making Christmas wreaths. I decided to break down how I make this simple hoop wreath for the holidays that you can try at home.

Simple wreaths are truly my favorite. If you had asked me when I was younger if I would do anything simple the answer would of been NO, but as I've gotten older I have come to appreciate the simpler things.

To make this wreath I started with a basic hoop. You can get these at stores like Michale's AC Moore or Hobby Lobby.

STEP 1

Next you want to gather your base. This is normally consist of leaves and other greenery. Since I was making a Christmas/Winter wreath I used fake ferns and berries. Again you can get these at places like Michale's, AC Moore, or Hobby Lobby.

Step 2

After you have collected your greens you want to set your base. I like to keep my floral area to about 1/2 - 3/4 of the wreath. I know I wanted my bow to go on the top, so I placed my greens around the top half of the hoop. From here I will add in greens in both directions until I connect each of the sides together. Make sure you cover the area where your bow will go. You don't want the space behind the bow to see empty.

After the greens were on I decided that it need a little more texture, so I added in a velvety leaf I had laying around to give it a little more of a wintery look. To do this I dded some leaves to the back of the hoop and then some in between the existing greenery.

The final step is to add your bow. (I'll do a bow making blog soon!) I wanted my wreath to be use more for Christmas so I went with a red bow to give it the over all look of the standard red and green Christmas feel. However, I made sure to use a snowflake pattern just incase it take me a little longer to take down my Christmas decorations.

- Again I wont lie, I wait until mid January to taken them down. (Have I mentioned that I'm a little obsessed with Christmas)

Step 6

Then all that is left to do is wait until November 1st when my husband allows me to start decorating for the Holidays. I know, I know super early for most but I love this season SO much!
